Invisalign

At Matta Woolf Family Dentistry, we understand the importance of a beautiful smile. That is why we offer the Invisalign clear aligner system. If you have gaps or crowded and overlapped teeth, or if you just aren’t happy with your smile, come see us for an orthodontic consultation. We will evaluate you to see if Invisalign clear aligners are the right choice to straighten your teeth and give you the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted.

What is Invisalign?

The Invisalign clear aligner system uses a series of removable, clear plastic aligner trays to gently reposition your teeth. Invisalign is a discreet alternative to the brackets and wires of traditional braces, allowing you to straighten your teeth without the need for noticeable ceramic or unsightly metal. Your aligners will be virtually invisible once placed in your mouth, making them an excellent option for patients who don’t want a noticeable orthodontic treatment.

You will wear your Invisalign aligners all day except when eating, brushing and flossing. Because your aligners are removable, you can enjoy your favorite foods and active lifestyle activities without having to worry about your orthodontic treatment. The removable aligners also allow you to brush and floss normally without brackets or wires getting in the way, making it easier to maintain good dental health compared to cumbersome traditional braces.

How Does Invisalign Work?

During your consultation, we will take impressions and X-rays of your teeth, which will be sent to the Invisalign laboratory to create a 3D model. We will use this model to design your treatment plan and fabricate your aligner trays. Each aligner tray is worn for three weeks to gradually guide your teeth into the desired alignment.

Treatment time will typically take about one to two years, depending on your condition and the degree of correction you need. Invisalign offers three treatment options to best meet your needs, including:

  • Limited 6:

A set of six aligners for patients with mild alignment issues.

  • Limited 12:

A set of 12 aligners for patients with moderate alignment issues.

  • Unlimited:

We will prescribe as many aligners as required to help you achieve the desired results.

Who is a Candidate for Invisalign?

Our dentist recommends Invisalign for adults and teens with many common orthodontic issues. We use Invisalign to treat crowded teeth, gaps or spaces between teeth, overbites, underbites and crooked or rotated teeth. In most cases, Invisalign is not recommended for children or elderly patients, who may not have the permanent teeth necessary for an effective aligner tray fitting. Be sure to speak to our dentist to determine if Invisalign is right for you or your child.

What’s the Difference Between Invisalign and Braces?

Invisalign is recommended for patients with mild to moderate orthodontic alignment issues. Because they are removable, Invisalign aligners do not apply the same pressure to your teeth as traditional braces, which are attached to your teeth for an average of two to three years. If you suffer from more complex orthodontic issues, traditional braces may be a more suitable treatment option.

I, like most people, DO NOT enjoy going to the dentist. Dr. Matta is kind, personable gave me plenty of breaks during my crown fitting and even rubbed my jaw because it was sore. He is AMAZING! My dentist for life.
